“Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.” (Isaiah 29:12-14)

I love the promises of God! And, I love the fact that He is always nearby – no matter where I am. Remember the words of David when he wrote, “Where shall I go to escape the presence of God?” He goes on to explain that no matter how high, how deep, how far he goes – he knows God is with Him. How reassuring that is for us still today!

That’s why I like meeting new people. Everybody has a story. Some stories are love songs, some are tragedies, others are adventures, even others are action-packed thrillers! We all have a past and it is good for us to know one another. Our life stories affect each other. Yours might inspire me. It might thrill me. It might motivate me, or it could scare me. But the fact remains – you are still here. That is a testament to the power of God in your life.

This all comes back down to sharing your story with others. Not your story from 20 years ago (although in some situations that may be relevant), but what God is doing in your life today. He is an active God, He is an ever-present God, and He cares about us and the world. Your story can change someone’s life. There’s nothing to be afraid of and really no need to prepare what you’re going to say. You lived your story. Just tell it.

God promised the children of Israel He would deliver them when they, like the Prodigal Son, came to themselves and realized who they were and where they were. In I John 1:9 we read, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Today I challenge you to turn to God. Even if you have been a Christian for years. Look to Him with thanksgiving in your heart. Praise Him in your spirit, praise Him with your lips, and praise Him with your life. He is a good and faithful Father and He wants you to come home.

Be blessed.
