"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19)

I heard a minister speaking on a podcast yesterday about the topic of God hating. That's hard to hear after years of hearing about the love of God and how merciful He is.

And yet, here it is in black and white. There are actions God hates. He doesn't hate the person, but He detests the actions that reflect an evil heart. God hates evil - evil spirits, evil motives, evil actions.

Everywhere we turn we are surrounded by the evil that is in this world. When Satan was cast down out of heaven to the earth, he introduced these spirits into this atmosphere. Literally. Many Bible scholars believe that event happened between Genesis 1:1 (In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth) and Genesis 1:2 (And the earth was without form and void). God doesn't create chaos and confusion. But Satan sure likes it!

If he can get us to distrust one another, doubt one another, turn against one another, he is happy. This is his joy - to destroy what God has created, to twist it, disfigure it, render it powerless. How many things has he been able to do that with in your life and mine? In our ignorance or lack of vigilance, we have often allowed him to introduce these evil powers into our lives.

The good news is, no matter how disfigured or dysfunctional our lives have become, God IS the power to break those bondages and release us from those torments. All we have to do is turn it all over to Him - all the formless, mysterious, dark places in our lives as well as the good. Give it all to Him. It may appear to be formless and void right now, but the Word of God can and will speak to our lives, to our homes, to our worlds and begin to re-create His original design in us again. Hallelujah for His Word and for His Spirit.

Today I challenge you to do just that. Lay out before Him all your dreams and plans, put before Him all your frustrations and misunderstandings, and allow Him full access to create in you a clean beginning. Allow your heart and mind to become the Garden of Eden where you and He can walk and talk together in the cool of the day.

Be blessed.
