“And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.” (I Samuel 22:2-3)
So wrote King David in a song which, sadly, the tune of which has been lost to intiquity. It would bless my heart immensely if God would give me a tune or music line to accompany it; however, for now I have my voice and the words of my mouth by which to echo the lyrics.
Our God is an awesome God. We sing the modern chorus, yet so few of us see His greatness and His power at work in our lives. I, for one, have all throughout my life and it has been my mission in recent years to tell others just this very message. God never changes. When He speaks situations change. When He moves everything that would stand in our way has to move out. When He commands even forces of nature have to bow in obeisance to Him. Hallelujah! And He gives us, His children, the authority to speak His Word with the same anointing and power.
Unfortunately we often get inside our own heads and muddle up the message. We water it down, we alter it to fit our thinking, or we remain silent – whether out of guilt, fear, or disbelief. Much like little children we have to learn how to speak properly, we have to learn what to say and what not to say. We have to rise above our level of understanding, knowing that His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. We have to, in the words of Paul to the church at Corinth, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”(2 Corinthians 10:5).
This devotion today is VERY short; however, don’t let its brevity lessen the message. Today, my friend, I challenge you to question every thought, take it before the throne of God to check its validity, to see if it is truly in line with what God wants for you. Each thought that goes through your mind must be stopped and interrogated at the whipping post of God’s truth. If it is truth it will withstand the trial. If not, it will die at that spot and its remains must be washed away in the rubble and trash. Let every thought you have today, dear one, be only of God. May every intention you hold today be in accord with God’s message of redemption and restoration. May your every action today reflect the hands of Jesus Christ Who was willing to touch the untouchable, heal the incurable, and save those deemed by the world as valueless. In so doing, you will be the very hands of God, the feet of God, the mouthpiece of God, and a perfect reflection of His glory in a dark and dying world. I love you all.
Be blessed.
