As an avid history buff, I look at different eras of society and its impact on the “church.” The Age of the Enlightenment ushered in an era of questioning historical assumptions. The Bible was not immune. I personally can know the long standing meaning of the word enlightenment, like woke. If you have not been enlightening or woke as they say by now, you are lying to yourself. None of this stuff is new. The problem is that that so called saints of God are listening to everything and anyone else but God. And that alone proves that one is not studying the word of God.
14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to [d]strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15, NKJV
Despite the academic trend away from Source Criticism and the Documentary Hypothesis for the last 40 years, the arguments for JEDP theory continue to be repeated in colleges, universities, and skeptics who desire to refute Christianity.
The Man of God and the Word of God:
10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:10-17, NKJV
The Lukewarm Church:
14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Revelation 3:15-16, NKJV
Either we take God at his word, or we don’t. Either we take God at his word, or we need to lock and board up all of the churches and no longer have service.
13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, Ephesians 4:13-14, NKJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:1-3 & 6, NKJV
If you ask me, this is a way to sway people away from the Gospel by causing doubt, instead of inspiring one to seek revelation through studying, and by the power of the Holy spirit. Everybody believes in something, even if it is in nothing.
I believe.
19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification. (Romans 4:19-25, NKJV)
I am all in. Not perfect, but I am all in. Better today than I was on yesterday, I am all in. And sometimes I am deducted points in popularity because I stand on what I stand on. And I stand on what thus says the Lord, not people and not the news. I will not be the one to try and write out, what God has inspired to be written in.
